This week’s interview is with the author of The White Wolf Prophecy and the upcoming series the Anaerris ,LK Kelley. I interview the Author for the second time as my first time was a year ago when I was still a newbie. I even do not know how I convinced her to answer my questions but she agreed. And I definitely remember that. I was happy and excited mostly because of the fact that a published author became my guest.

A year later, I have LK Kelley again on board, this time on Book Reviewer. I dare say that the interview went far beyond the borders of the standard question-answer interview. It became a bit more personal. Why? You need to read it all!

1. What does your writing process look like?

First, I want to say how honoured I am that you have asked me to join your blog once again. For those who do not know,Blaga was my very first blogger interview when I wrote my very first book, the White Wolf Prophecy, Mating. Its very exciting to me to be interviewed by you once again, Blaga! I write a bit differently. Many writers use an outline, or other method. I don’t. When you first interviewed me, that was a very hard question for me. Now, it isn’t. Now I have 4 books under my belt, I use storyboarding. That is what is used in movies & TV. The only difference is I storyboard a scene at a time in my mind. Once I have it visualised, I then act it out. Once I have the entire scene down the way I want, then I can write it out. A similar scene in a show might be just a few seconds or minutes. For a book, this could be a full chapter!

2. Do you have any strange writing habits no one know about?

Well, Most don’t know I act out the scenes. When no one is around, I do so aloud! 😂

3. Just as your books inspire authors, what authors have inspired you to write?

Far too many to mention all, but I look for fiction writers whose vivid descriptions allow me to jump into the book as I read. I become part of that book. But, there are some worth mentioning. Jules Verne was a major influence. Edgar Rice Burroughs, H.G. Wells, Edgar Allen Poe. Contemporary are Karen Marie Moning, Quinn Loftis, Nicky Charles, and Elizabeth Hunter just to name a few.

4. Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?

Well, in effect, right now, I am partially. I don’t really go by LK, but Kelley is my real name. For the future, I may do so! 😉

5. How important are names to you in your books?

Very important. Do you choose the names based on liking the way it sounds or the meaning? I try to pick a name that matches the book. I also base many of my names on real people & their personalities. So far, they are really flattered. Do you have any name choosing resources you recommend? I don’t really have any. I am a people watcher, Blaga. People don’t really pay much attention to me. I’m non-threatening I guess. I even have total stranger stop me to tell me their life stories! I file these away dor my books. My daughter inherited the same thing, but they DO pay attention to her. Everyone has seen her all over the world. She is on all three covers of the White Wolf Prophecy!

6. What was the best money you ever spent as a writer?

Bar none? Photoshoots for my first series! I was extremely excited to have 3 awesome professional photographers!

7. If you didn’t like writing books, what would you do for a living?

Oh no! How does everything sound? I originally wanted to be an astronaut. Then, a music teacher, which everyone thought I would do! I also am a professional Decorator & cake decorator. I sew, needlepoint, embroider, design and paint murals, miniature houses, & am a full crafter…and much more. BUT, I realize that being a writer, I can live all the things I ever wanted to be!

8. If you had to do something differently as a child or teenager to become a better writer as an adult, what would you do?

That’s an interesting question. I was straight A’s in spelling, literature, and I could write rings around anyone else. I already did that, and because I had an AWESOME lit teacher who was the strangest writer I ever met! I wasn’t doing well in 7th grade lit. She drive me buggy. Couldn’t understand her at all! I was making F’s. She was having trouble trying to help her students during continuing education. We got together, and between the 2 of us, she got an A & I never made anything less than an A again. Her name? Mrs. Werner. So, I got the very best training from the very best teacher long ago.

9. What is your least favourite part of the publishing / writing process?

Formatting. The problem is that while I have one kind of program, my publisher has another. They are just not as compatible, so we have to do all finalizing through a PDF. I tell him where to change it; he does it.

10. Characters often find themselves in situations they aren’t sure they can get themselves out of. When was the last time you found yourself in a situation that was hard to get out of and what did you do?

Just this week! Truth. I told the truth. Took responsibility for it, and it was fixed quickly. I am always in hot water! Not going to lie…I get into them often.

11. What literary character is most like you?

OK.I never thought about it. I actually had to go through some women in literature. After a while, I realized who that was. Jo March in Little Women. She is strong, loyal to those she loves, sometimes feels out if step and not always sure of her place in the world. Lives to write, and wants that one, perfect book. Draws on favourite places, and uses them in her books. She always ends up being the in the lead, and when no one else can come up with the solution, she does. Sometimes, tired of it, but never fails. Tries and fails, but doesn’t give up. Really hates criticism, but realizes that it is good in the end, and makes her stronger each time. Tragedy and happiness shape who she is. She is feisty, and determined to finish what she starts. She wants desperately to ignore the truth in tragic times, but can’t. She envies those who can. She is an empath, feeling everyone’s pain, sadness, happiness, terror, etc. Wants everyone happy, even if she cannot have it. Thanks Blaga for that question!

12. If you could have any accents from anywhere in the world, what would you choose?

I actually play around with many. British, French, German, Russian, Irish, Italian, and a few others. I’ll try any accent!

13. Do you have any future projects?

Oh, my yes!

So,could you tell us more about them?

I have a supplemental book to the White Wolf Prophecy with the children! I have so many who love my characters, I decided to extend it to them . They are also each unique, funny and get themselves in trouble. It is also the extension of the supernatural world from the curse of the other 3 books. And, they find mates of other species too! I also have at least 7 other books on the burner! I try to use unique and cool characters in each book and/or series. I would get bored writing the same things over & over. I like to keep it interesting, and my readers will be able to see this in my different series.

14. What would you wish to the readers of Book Reviewer?

Like most of us, we like reviews. And I know how hard it is to find the time. I was right there with them once. But we do appreciate each and every one. Trust me. On a side note, my fans and followers know that I do not buy reviews nor followers, fans, or visitors on any of my sites. I would rather have few reviews that are honest than those that are bought.

P.S (LK Kelley)

I really enjoyed these great questions, because I learned more about myself than I ever knew! But, it was The literary character I was most like, that completely floored me! I honestly never thought about it. Blaga, I am an adoptee, and I have always tried to fit into everyone else’s idea of who I was & who I should be. Until your question, I never realized who I REALLY was until now! It gave me a closure and a peace I have never had. I was always “expected” to be something other than who I was, and I fell in line with their expectations.
